I’ve been a long-time Samsung fan, so when I had the opportunity to try the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge for a few weeks, I was eager to get my hands on it.

However, there was one complication — I had recently made the switch to Apple with the purchase of the iPhone 15 Pro.

I mainly chose the iPhone for its compatibility with my MacBook Pro, and as a film enthusiast, I was drawn to its ability to shoot log footage — essentially raw video that offers greater flexibility in color grading.

Naturally, I was curious: Could the Galaxy S25 Edge tempt me back to Samsung?

💸 Galaxy S25 Edge Pricing

  • 256GB model – $1,449

  • 512GB model – $1,649
🔖 Samsung is currently offering a $400 discount until July 9.

📱 A Step Up from Previous Edge Models

I’ve used previous Samsung Edge models such as the S6 Edge, S7 Edge, and before switching to Apple, the Galaxy S10. My biggest question about the S25 Edge was whether it retained the iconic curved display from earlier models.

As soon as I unboxed the phone, it was clear that instead of a curved display, the innovation lies in how Samsung fit a 6.7-inch, 120Hz display into a phone that weighs only 163 grams

Though only around 20 grams lighter than my iPhone, the S25 Edge feels noticeably more lightweight. It's also one of the thinnest phones I’ve ever held — just 5.8mm thick — which adds to its unique feel and sleekness.

📷 Camera Performance

The camera setup is a blend of familiar and new upgrades. It includes 12MP front and rear cameras, along with a powerful 200MP wide-angle rear camera, which is a significant leap forward for me.

While it only has two rear lenses and lacks the versatility of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it still supports log video recording — a huge advantage for content creators and filmmakers.

The phone is equipped with a 3900 mAh battery, compared to the 5000 mAh battery in the Ultra model. Still, I found the battery more than sufficient for daily use, with no significant issues during my testing period.

🔁 Switching Back with Smart Switch

Samsung makes the transition from an old device seamless with the Smart Switch app, which comes pre-installed. It allows you to transfer nearly all of your data via Wi-Fi or a USB cable.

For this review, I decided not to use Smart Switch because I wanted a completely fresh experience with the phone. Since I’m already familiar with Android, it didn’t take long to get comfortable again.

🧩 Design & User Experience

One of the things I’ve always loved about Samsung phones is how they feel in hand — and the S25 Edge continues that legacy. The phone feels incredibly light and modern. At times, I even forgot I was carrying it in my pocket.

One change that took some getting used to is the volume button now being located on the right side. It made one-handed screenshots a bit tricky at first.

Aside from that, the user interface is smooth, responsive, and highly customizable — something I’ve always preferred about Android over iOS. I particularly like the on-screen navigation buttons compared to the iPhone’s full reliance on swipe gestures.

🤖 AI Features

The phone is packed with AI capabilities. For instance, the lock screen offers morning and afternoon briefs, including weather forecasts and weekly usage summaries.

It also comes with built-in Google Gemini AI, which you can access by holding the power button. Another neat feature is circle to search, activated by pressing and holding the home button.

There’s also a standout auto-transcription feature — a game-changer for journalists. Available in the Samsung Voice Recorder app, it can transcribe phone calls and even generate AI summaries of recordings.

🔄 Final Verdict: Should You Switch?

After using the Galaxy S25 Edge for a few weeks and alternating between it and my iPhone, I encountered only a few minor drawbacks.

The biggest was losing AirDrop integration with my MacBook, but since I already use Google Drive for most of my file transfers, it wasn’t a big deal.

While I would personally prefer a slightly smaller version of this phone due to my dislike for oversized screens, the thin and lightweight design of the S25 Edge really won me over.

In conclusion: I’m officially back to being a Samsung user. If I had to choose today, I’d confidently pick the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
